There’s a cat
An old chubby cat
I don’t currently have a cat
So I get to borrow
YellowCat.
There’s a house
A Big White House
Where I am all alone
I get to borrow this
Solitude.
Each room
Soft colors I didn’t choose
Many photos of
Children I will never know
Like I’m stepping into….
Someone else’s life
Just for a time.
And I can slice the
Silence with a knife….
….If I could find one.
People’s spaces are
Organized according to
Their internal compass
Not mine.
Actions I can do
Mindlessly at home take
Special attention here.
The dishwasher, the microwave
Why is the refrigerator.... beeping?
?????
I could snowshoe out into
The field of a giant yard
And maybe I will…
Tomorrow.
I could soak away
The tensions of the day in the
Oh so wonderful
Hot tub.
And I probably will
Tonight…
And oh!
Here he is
YellowCat!
He’s shy with me but
We are making our way
Towards each other
Like strangers in
Borrowed lives.
